Gift four

This little fleece scarf works up fast and can be made for anyone
on your list.   We will also have a matching hat for you.

It is important that you read all the instructions to have a good
result.  Working with fleece requires you to keep it from moving,
(that is because it stretches  and you need to put a piece of
washaway on top to stop the stitching from "disappearing into the
pile of the fleece.

I use vilene in the hoop, two layers, then I spray the back of design
piece with quilt basting spray and set it on top of the vilene, i
smooth it down and pin on the other edges.   I then "float" the top
piece of vilene on top before I begin to stitch, which is also sprayed
with basting spray to keep it from " slipping" around on the design.

You should have some experience sewing to tackle this project, but
it is fairly simple for each scarf you need 1/4 yard of fleece
material.  I measured this so I used 3/4 of fabric for the scarf and
then the rest for the pockets....If making for an adult it will use all
of it, but adjustment for length should be made for children and
teens.  I made a couple of them the first is the one pictured.  I
made it for a man, but the length might be okay for a teen or
woman as well.  Have fun with the pockets, hubby says I made
them a bit big....so the next one I made a bit smaller...you can use
the pockets for hand warmers or as a place to store your hat and
gloves, then you can keep them with your jacket by hanging them
all together.  I will be putting up pictures of the other sets I did
soon.

Pockets, I measured down on my hubby to his finger tips when
making this scarf, but you are free to make them smaller, I wanted
them to hold his hat and gloves which are always disappearing.
Also you might want your scarf not so wide for a child so
experience with garment making will come in here.  Marking your
pocket with washout maker, you want to center where your design
will be, that way when you take it to the machine you can put the
needle in the right place to start.  Float your vilene on top of the
design securing it with quilt basting spray then stitch.

After the design is stitched, you need to rinse out the vilene,  let it
dry and then you are ready to add the "pocket" to the front.  I
turned down the top about 2 inches pinned it to the front and then
sewed them together.  Do the same with the second pocket.  Now
if you wish you can bind the edges with a fancy stitch I liked this
one on my machine.  Thanks to my hubby for "modeling" the scarf,
even if he did get "roped" into it.......There will be a matching cap,
as soon as I can figure it out...lol...

Scarf without wrapping around the
neck is fairly long so you will need to
measure your recipient.
The scarf is wrapped around hubbys
neck makes it shorter.
I used a "blanket stitch" on the outside
to finish the fleece.
